Are Standing Desks Overrated? My Experience with the Best Desk in Singapore
Able to freely move around the office more may sound counterintuitive, but it can actually help you get more work done! That’s why standing desks have become more popular—not only do they increase your level of productivity and improve your health, but they also have been shown to make your workday by going faster, improve your memory and focus, and even help you live longer!
But are standing desks really as great as they seem?
I decided to find out by using one for an entire year, and here’s my experience with the best desk in Singapore.
5 Reasons why I Love Standing Desks
Switching between sitting and standing helps me alleviate that problem. After all, it’s hard to get into any kind of workflow when you don’t have a rhythm to your day. I much prefer working for a couple of hours standing and then taking a sitting break for an hour or so before going back to standing again.
[1] In addition to switching up my routine, using a standing desk has helped me manage my cravings throughout the day.
[2] It burns more calories, I have burned around 184 calories per hour (average) and I find myself feeling hungry more often than not—and now, instead of reaching for snacks whenever hunger strikes, I simply stand up from my desk and stretch. This doesn’t just help prevent unnecessary snacking; it also gives me time to go grab something healthy if necessary.
[3] It’s also worth noting that standing desks are fairly affordable in any size or color you want.
[4] One desk is fairly affordable and available for being able to customize to my requirement in size, color, or designs top and even in installing specific holes or corners.
[5] Finally, while most people think standing desks are only suitable for office use, they can actually be used at home too, as now working from home is an option for my career.
The Benefits of Standing Desks
There are many benefits of using a standing desk, from being able to burn more calories and becoming more alert to reducing back pain and improving posture. I was sold on all of these reasons for switching out my traditional desk for a motorized uplift working desk, which is basically a standing desk converter. After using one for a year, here are some of my thoughts on if standing desks really are overrated:

How I started using my standing desk
I heard about standing desks a few years ago, but I always got put off trying one because they were just too expensive and it is just a desk. They were out of my price range and, quite frankly, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to adjust to a standing desk. Then last year I saw a desk that was larger than normal and they seemed able to customize it to my requirements like an L shape with a specific length at One Desk Singapore. It was very reasonable enough for me to take a chance. So that’s exactly what I did – bought one and started using it right away. The verdict: After using it for six months, I loved it! Having a standing desk at home makes it a lot more convenient. For example, whenever I feel like preparing my meals and watching the drama in my working space, all I have to do is adjust the desk to a comfortable standing height instead of being limited to switching between my dining table and workspace with a weird angle. Also when you’re working from home, there are many times when you want to go check your email or social media account real quick and my desk is already set nicely with a push of a button.
