Are Standing Desks Overrated? My Experience with the Best Desk in Singapore

Able to freely move around the office more may sound counterintuitive, but it can actually help you get more work done! That’s why standing desks have become more popular—not only do they increase your level of productivity and improve your health, but they also have been shown to make your workday by going faster, improve your memory and focus, and even help you live longer!

But are standing desks really as great as they seem?

I decided to find out by using one for an entire year, and here’s my experience with the best desk in Singapore.

5 Reasons why I Love Standing Desks

Switching between sitting and standing helps me alleviate that problem. After all, it’s hard to get into any kind of workflow when you don’t have a rhythm to your day. I much prefer working for a couple of hours standing and then taking a sitting break for an hour or so before going back to standing again.

[1] In addition to switching up my routine, using a standing desk has helped me manage my cravings throughout the day.

[2] It burns more calories, I have burned around 184 calories per hour (average) and I find myself feeling hungry more often than not—and now, instead of reaching for snacks whenever hunger strikes, I simply stand up from my desk and stretch. This doesn’t just help prevent unnecessary snacking; it also gives me time to go grab something healthy if necessary.

[3] It’s also worth noting that standing desks are fairly affordable in any size or color you want.

[4] One desk is fairly affordable and available for being able to customize to my requirement in size, color, or designs top and even in installing specific holes or corners.

[5] Finally, while most people think standing desks are only suitable for office use, they can actually be used at home too, as now working from home is an option for my career.

The Benefits of Standing Desks

There are many benefits of using a standing desk, from being able to burn more calories and becoming more alert to reducing back pain and improving posture. I was sold on all of these reasons for switching out my traditional desk for a motorized uplift working desk, which is basically a standing desk converter. After using one for a year, here are some of my thoughts on if standing desks really are overrated:

  • Are they worth it?

  • Should you switch out your old office chair or computer stand?

You’ll find answers below!

Benefits of standing desks vs. sitting down while there are still many who prefer to sit at their desk, there has been a growing movement toward adopting standing desks as an alternative. Some studies have shown that people who work at a standing desk can burn up to 200 calories per day compared to those who sit down for eight hours straight. On top of that, sitting can also increase stress levels and cause back problems while moving around can help improve circulation and reduce fatigue.

I’ve been using an adjustable ergonomic standing desk for over a year now, so I thought it was time to offer my review of Best desks.

  • They have good-sized and are fairly affordable in any color and design you want.
  • Choose One Desk Singapore for Durable and Stylish Office Furniture, enrich your offices with amazing furniture.
  • When I first started working on my Best Desk, I found myself leaning against it after just a few minutes because I felt wobbly. Now that I am used to standing at work, it is no longer an issue. If you find yourself slouching or leaning against your Best Desk during long hours of work, try these tips: Adjustment is key! It takes time to adjust to standing desks but once you do adjust; no going back!
  • Getting an anti-fatigue mat is a good idea since standing desks are hard on your feet, ankles, and knees if you’re not accustomed to them. This allows for more comfortable standing while maintaining good posture.

How I started using my standing desk

I heard about standing desks a few years ago, but I always got put off trying one because they were just too expensive and it is just a desk. They were out of my price range and, quite frankly, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to adjust to a standing desk. Then last year I saw a desk that was larger than normal and they seemed able to customize it to my requirements like an L shape with a specific length at One Desk Singapore. It was very reasonable enough for me to take a chance. So that’s exactly what I did – bought one and started using it right away. The verdict: After using it for six months, I loved it! Having a standing desk at home makes it a lot more convenient. For example, whenever I feel like preparing my meals and watching the drama in my working space, all I have to do is adjust the desk to a comfortable standing height instead of being limited to switching between my dining table and workspace with a weird angle. Also when you’re working from home, there are many times when you want to go check your email or social media account real quick and my desk is already set nicely with a push of a button.

How do you adjust to your new standing desk?

After I got my standing desk from One Desk, it took me about two weeks to get used to working at a standing desk. Now that I’ve been using it for about years, I can say that I enjoy not having to sit down all day. Not only do I save time by not sitting, but staying active at work also helps keep me healthy and alert! If you’re thinking of getting a standing desk, here are some tips on how to adjust to your new standing desk: First of all, don’t expect miracles—you will feel a bit of discomfort at first. The trick is to set up your adjustable ergonomic standing desk properly so that you can use it comfortably.

There are a few factors to consider when setting up your standing desk: Dimensions, Height range, Weight capacity, Tilt angle, Gas spring strength, and Cable management system.

Final Thoughts on Standing Desks (Including a video)

The hype around standing desks has been building for years, but I was hesitant to try one. And my last experience with ergonomic office adjustable desks is blooming. I settled on a Best Standing Solutions adjustable desk and it has quickly become an essential part of my life. In short, they are great!

Now that I have had some time to really get used to using a standing desk, here are some things that you should know before you invest in one: If you spend hours at your computer every day, getting up and moving can be difficult—even if you want to. A good solution is getting an adjustable-height desk like mine that allows me to work both sitting down and standing up without much effort. When first transitioning from sitting down at your computer for long periods of time every day to using a standing desk, take it slow! Don’t make any sudden changes—especially when it comes to working hours spent.
